Although Windows 10 is nearing its end of life and no longer receiving improvements, many people still refuse to switch to Windows 11, remaining loyal to the older operating system.
On October 14, 2025, Microsoft will officially end support for Windows 10. Currently, it receives regular updates with bug fixes and security patches. It should be noted that this operating system has not received any improvements, optimizations, or new features for some time.
After the designated date, Windows 10 will no longer receive bug fixes or security patches. Anyone who continues to use this operating system afterward will have to accept the risks. Transitioning from Windows 10 to Windows 11 is quite simple since the installation process is like any other update, not requiring users to format their computers and will not result in any loss of files. Additionally, the device retains its usage license.
Why, then, do many people decide to stay with Windows 10 and not install the newer Windows 11 version, even if their systems meet the hardware requirements set by Microsoft? Here are the six main reasons why users refuse to upgrade.
- Windows 11 was introduced by Microsoft to optimize for modern processors combining Intel’s two types of cores. However, in reality, it does not work correctly. In many games, disabling the power-saving cores can enhance performance.
- Another reason relates to gaming performance. Despite promises that Windows 11 would be better for gaming, the reality is that this operating system does not offer anything over Windows 10. There are no improvements in games or added specific functions or features.
- Microsoft redesigned the Start Menu, but it is much less useful and harder to use compared to the Start Menu in Windows 10. This is further emphasized by many users adding various add-ons to restore the old menu.
- The integration of artificial intelligence is another reason many people dislike Windows 11, as they believe that all the features of Copilot+ serve specific purposes. More annoyingly, users will need to change their PC and buy one with a processor that integrates an NPU core.
- There are many advertisements encouraging users to rent various services offered by the company. Although users may not subscribe, it is very annoying to receive spam emails.
- Finally, Windows 11 updates continuously cause issues, even forcing Microsoft to roll them back.
Of course, there are other reasons why users decide not to switch from Windows 10 to Microsoft’s latest operating system, although it is undeniable that Windows 11 brings some benefits to users.
